Betty Margaret Brock Forbes was the fourth child born to Lillie Marie Tomlinson Brock and William Elmer Brock on August 15, 1924 in Fort Worth, Texas. She had a twin brother, Dan Morgan Brock, who was born just minutes before her. She also had two other brothers, Thomas Elmer Brock and James Edward Brock. Betty spent the first part of her life in Fort Worth and worked for Gulf Oil Corporation after college. In 1953 she married Harry Council Forbes from Waxahachie, Texas.
Together, they had two children; Valorie Lea Forbes (1954) and Harry Scott Forbes(1957). Betty and Harry spent the first years of their marriage in Waxahachie and later moved to Wichita Falls, Texas. Betty and Harry were long time members of First United Methodist Church in Wichita Falls. Betty died on May 24, 1979, just three months after her first grandchild was born. She fiercely battled her cancer to live long enough to see Katie born and hold her. Betty was a beautiful person inside and out and continues to live within our
hearts.
