Mary Ardistine Fowler Beasley
Services for Marty Beasley will be held Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. Due to the renovation of First Baptist, services will be held at Temple Baptist Church, with Dr. Chris Craig, Dr. Andy Johnson, Rev. Mike Benefield, and Dr. T. David Willets officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Marty was born in Ruston on November 24, 1942 and was the daughter of Eunice Renfrow Fowler and the late Drew Ardis Fowler. She was preceded in death by her brother Drew John Fowler. She is survived by her mother, Eunice Fowler; her husband Don Beasley; daughters Leah Katherine Beasley and Laura Beasley Jones and husband Jason; sister, Liz Fowler Hood and husband Ivin. She will also be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Marty was a native of Ruston. She graduated from Ruston High School and Louisiana Tech University and earned a master's from LA Tech and doctorate from Purdue University. She worked as a Professor of Speech at LA Tech until 1984. Marty lived to help others. She was active in many community organizations, including AAUW, Arts Club, Mayor's Commission for Women, D.A.R.T., Girl Scouts, 4-H, LifeChoices Crisis Pregnancy Center, Phi Delta Kappa, and several education organizations. She served for 25 years on the Lincoln Parish School Board and was a lifelong active member of First Baptist Church. Those who knew her will remember her loving, selfless spirit and many acts of Christian service and love. Pallbearers will be Larry Banks, Troy Beasley, Mike Hilton, Gerald Long, Ray Newbold, Clyde Posey, Dr. Charles Scriber, and Frances Stephenson. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Lincoln Parish School Board. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church or D.A.R.T. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 3, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.
