Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as Sergeant Major in the US Army in the 6th US Colored Infantry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action at Chapin's Farm, Virginia on September 29, 1864. His citation reads "Rescue of regimental colors."
