U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Penn College Iowa, in 1909, from Haverford College, in 1910, moved to California, in 1912, attended the law department of the University of California, was admitted to the bar in 1915 and commenced to practice law in Berkeley, California. He was a member of the Republican State committee, (1932-33) and a delegate to the Republican State conventions in 1932. In 1933, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-third Congress, serving until 1935. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 85.
