Delbert served as a Captain and Pilot on B-29 #42-65294, 876th Bomber Squadron, 383rd Bomber Group, 248th Airbase Unit, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided, with his wife, at 784 Chambers Street, Spencerport, Monroe County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on September 2, 1941, prior to the war, in Rochester, New York. He was noted as being employed as a Shipping Clerk and also as Single, without dependents at the time of his enlistment.

He was married sometime after his enlistment.

Delbert died when his B-29 crashed seven miles northeast of Gorham, Russell County, Kansas during the war. He death was ruled as a "Non Battle" related incident during the war.
