Lloyd Alderin, 79, Pollock, S.D., died July 20, 2004, at a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 24, at Pollock Lutheran Church with the Rev. Stan Kwiecien officiating. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan, and one hour before services at the church.

Lloyd was born May 6, 1925, in Bismarck to Stone and Hanna (Danielson) Alderin. He was raised and educated in Stanton and served in combat in Korea. On Dec. 16, 1957, he married Lenore M. Schiermeister in Glasgow, Mont. He helped in the construction of the Garrison Dam in the early 60's and worked for 13 years at the Pollock Cheese Plant, from which he retired. Lloyd enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and feeding his squirrels and birds.

He is survived by his wife, Lenore; one daughter, Pamela Shephard, Las Vegas; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Selena Alderin, Canton, S.D., and Stuart and Karen Alderin, Mandan; one sister, Lucille Johnson, Glasgow; seven grandchildren, Kyle, Jared, Hannah, Alton, Chanda, Sheena and Michael Shephard; and two great-grandchildren, Clay and Kaylee.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; oldest son, Perry; one grandson, Rusty; and a son-in-law, Dan Shephard.
