MUNCIE--Rachel C. Godfrey, 94, of Winter Garden, Fla., and a Muncie resident, died Saturday morning at Health Central Park in Winter Garden.

She was born in Kosciusko County, the daughter of Ralph and Mary Carr Liggett, graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1926 and moved to Muncie in 1933.

Sh worked for Industrial Trust and Savings and Merchants National Bank.

In 1967, she moved to Bradenton, Fla., where she was a private duty nurse until retiring in 1974. In 1973, she helped organize Muncie Days in Bradenton. Since that time, she wintered in Florida and spent her summers in Muncie.

Mrs. Godfrey was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church, where she was a past superintendent of the Sunday school, served on the church board and was a former Girl Scout Leader.

Surviving are two daughters, Gloria Quesinberry (husband-Jack), Winter Garden, and Rebecca Casey (husband-Allen), Muncie; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Riverside United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Fulp officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the church 6-8 p.m. Thursday and after 10 a.m. Friday.

Memorials may be directed to Riverside United Methodist Church. The Meeks Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
