U.S. Senator. Graduating from Chickerings Academy Ohio, in 1874, from Centre College Kentucky, 1878, the law school of the University of Cincinnati in 1880, he was admitted to the bar in 1880 and started a law practiced in Covington, Kentucky. He was a member of the Covington City Council, (1888-92). In 1920, he was elected as a Republican to the United States Senate, serving until 1927. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law and engaged in banking until his death at age 76.
