Captured again at Shepherdsville, Kentucky, on October 6, 1863. Sent to Camp Douglas, Illinois, where he died as a POW on the date of death set forth above. Cause of death: Chronic Diarrhea. Original burial in Chicago City Cemetery, but reinterred at Oak Woods along with 6,000 other Confederate POWS from Camp Douglas.
