Rudolph "Rudy" Balsan, 90, of Leesburg, FL, passed away peacefully Friday, May 13, 2011. Rudy honorably served his country during WWII on the USS Mt. Olympus. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He moved to Florida shortly after his retirement in 1984 from Oceanside Sanitation in N.Y. He was a member of the Hawthorn Bowling League in Leesburg. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Dorothy Balsan. He is survived by sons: Robert (Marylyn) Balsan and James (Kathy) Balsan; daughter, Linda (George) Bedell; 13 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Family and friends are requested to meet at the guard station in Florida National Cemetery 9:45 a.m., Wednesday, June 15th, 2011 for military honors.
