DEATH SUMMONS COUNTY PIONEER

Mrs. Calista Dawson Grim Passed Away in Bloomington Yesterday at Noon.

BORN NEAR ELLSWORTH

Mrs. Calista Dawson Grim, passed away yesterday at noon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Grim Pate, 504 West Elm street, following an illness of ten weeks, with the debilities incident to old age.

Mrs. Grim came to this city a little over a year ago, from Gibson City, where she had resided for over fifty years.

She was one of the few grandchildren surviving the first two families who settled in McLean county, being a grand-daughter of John and Mary Dawson, of Dawson township having been named in honor of Mr. and Mrs. John Dawson.

The deceased was born in Dawson township, two and one half miles south of Ellsworth, Illinois, February the 7th, 1844. She was the only child of Isaac and Elizabeth Branaman Dawson. After the death of her father, the mother was married to I.B. Jackson, of near Ellsworth. She remained with her stepfather and mother, until grown.

On November the 17th, 1867, she was united in marriage, in Bloomington, Illinois, to Henry Grim, and located on a farm near Foosland, Illinois, moving from there to Gibson City, in 1875, where she lived at one place for over fifty years, coming to Bloomington, in the fall of 1924.

She is survived by three children, Mrs. Mary Grim Pate, of this city, Mrs. Lizzie Grim Whitaker of Belle Center, Ohio, and Dr. Harry N. Grim of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, all of whom were at her bedside at the time of her death.

She is also survived by the following half brothers, and half sisters, C.F. Jackson, and Alpheus Jackson, of near Ellsworth, Mrs. Ella J. Smith, of Bloomington, and Mrs. Lucy Chenowith, of Peoria, Illinois. There is also an aunt, Mrs. Sarah Neal, 97 years of age, who is now very ill, near Ellsworth, Ill. A half brother, I.N. Jackson, died at Columbus, Ohio, about ten days ago.

She is a member of the U.B. church at GIbson City.

Services will be held from the home at 504 West Elm St., and also at Gibson City, where interment will be made. The hour of services will be announced later.

Rev. F.A. McCarty will have charge of the services at the residence and Rev. G.L. McClanathan will officiate at Gibson City.
