Mesquite, Texas - Mattie Lou Atwell, 93, died Oct. 3 in Dallas. She was born in Statesboro, lived in Georgia for most of her life and attended Bessie Tift College. She was a member of the Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church and a clerk at Henry's Department Store for many years. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Frank Knight Richardson in 1950 and Howard L. Atwell in 1991.

Survivors: a son and daughter-in-law, Frank Brannen Richardson and Janice Richardson of Corpus Christi, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Janie Lou and G. C. Fulmer Jr. of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; three grandchildren, Joanna Gregory of Rowlett, Texas, Ken Fulmer of Frisco, Texas and Lynn McDermott of Germantown, Tenn.; six great-grandchildren.

Graveside Service: 11 a.m. Monday at Eastside Cemetery in Statesboro.
