Mr. Rogers retired in 1985 after 19 years at Franklin Electric as a machine operator. He also worked for 20 years as a monument setter for Wearly Monuments.
He was a 1940 graduate of Montpelier High School and was a member of the Pleasantdale United Methodist Church in Blackford County, the American Legion Post 156, the Bro-Shadow Fishing Club, both at Montpelier, and a past member of the Montpelier Lions Club.
He was born in Blackford County March 1, 1922 to Oscar and Belle Reff Rogers. His marriage at Montpelier on April 4, 1970 was to Freida M. Rains, who survives.
Others surviving include three sons, Joe A. of Poneto, and Gary W. and Michael G., both of Montpelier; a daughter, Mrs. Jim (Patricia) Trant of Montpelier; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A brother and a sister are deceased.
Services at 10:30 a.m. Thursday will be at Glancy Funeral Homes, Walker Chapel, in Montpelier with Rev. Dan Boyd and Rev. Steve Rogers officiating.
Burial will be in Historic Woodlawn Cemetery east of Montpelier.
Calling hours at the funeral chapel will be Wednesday from 2 to 9 a.m. and on Thursday from 9 a.m. until time for services.
