Folk Personality. He was 19 years old and served as a Private First Class Radioman in the US Marine Corps Reserve. At 14:10 hours, December 5, 1945, he was radioman on the US Navy TBM Avenger torpedo bomber "FT-117" [TBM-1C - BuNo 73209], that was part of the infamous Flight 19 squadron, that disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle during a routine 5-ship overwater navigation training mission out of NAS Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Scheduled for a two hour training mission, Flight 19, was lost with the disappearance of the fourteen men and the thirteen-man crew of the Mariner who were sent to search for them. No trace of bodies or aircraft were ever found and the legend of the infamous Bermuda Triangle has remained a complete mystery.
