Elizabeth Buie, 99 of Paris, passed away on Tuesday morning, March 14, 2017 at the Monroe Manor nursing home in Paris.
Mrs. Buie was born on June 26, 1917 in Monroe County, MO, the daughter of Paul and Viola Murphy Vaughn. She married Leon V. (Bob) Buie on July 3, 1943 in Hopkinsville, KY and he preceded her in death on October 19, 1998. Elizabeth is survived by 3 sons, David (Mary Lou) Buie of Brunswick, Gayle Buie of Centralia and Edwin (Joanne) Buie of Paris; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 brother; Robert Vaughn, 1 sister, Fay Hendrix, and 1 granddaughter Joyce Buie.
She graduated Paris high school and then attended Kirksville State Teachers College. She taught at several rural schools of Monroe County for a few years. Elizabeth was a member of the Paris Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school, she was also a member of the COF club, the Live and Learn Extension club, and a 4-H Leader. She enjoyed spending time on their family farm where they farmed and raised cattle for over 60 years.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the Agnew Funeral Home with Reverend John Grimmett officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service on Friday. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Church or to the donor's choice.
