Miss Childs was born October 15, 1935 at home in Fairfield, to parents Henry Jay and Clara Jane Morehead Childs. She lived in Fairfield as a child and into adult life until the death of her parents and close relatives. When in her thirties she resided in Mexia State Home and in group homes in Waxahachie and Red Oak, Texas until age 65. Since that time she has primarily resided in Windsong Village Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center in Pearland, Texas.
Flossy was the youngest of eleven children all believed born in Fairfield. Her father and mother, older brothers, Henry; Lonnie; Roy; Dale; Jay and Billie; and sisters Virginia and Ruth preceded her in death.
Left to cherish her memory is a sister, Vanita of Corpus Christi and a brother, Albert Sidney Childs of Houston.
