Emmette was a member and a soprano in the choir of Rolling Roads Baptist Church. She was a member of the Peace Sunday School Class, WMU director. Emmette and her husband owned Connie's Shoes (a Fanfare shoes distributor) at Four Seasons Town Center. Emmette enjoyed the beach.
Emmette fought in a bout with cancer.

At the time of Emmette's birth, her father was being held as a Prisoner of War in Germany.
