Charles Moore enlisted in the Continental Army from Rowan County, North Carolina and served from 1775 through 1780. He was in the Battle of King's Mountain. Charles came to Illinois and settled in Sangamon County and later moved to McLean County. He died on September 19, 1839 as a result of a stagecoach accident which caused his death. He was traveling through Effingham County on his way to draw a pension. There is some doubt that Ewington is his final resting place. Some argue he is buried in Woodgruff County although a stone marker was placed in the Ewington Cemetery.∼CHARLES MOORE - was born in Hanover county, VA, Jan. 11, 1763. He enlisted from Salisbury district, Rowan county, NC, serving three months, in Capt. James Craig's company, and Major Montflorance's regiment. He again served 3 months in Capt. Benjamin Smith's company, Col Matthew Brandon's regiment, serving six months' also in Capt. Robert Gladsby's company. He was in the battle of King's mountain. While going to draw his pension the stage upset and from injuries received, he died Sept. 19, 1839. He is probably buried in Woodford county. He was pensioned.
