He married Frieda Bearmore, who died in 1928. He then married Emily Platt, who died in 1945. He then married Lesta A. Petty 29 Oct 1955.
His third wife survives with two daughters, Mrs. Eva Fritsch, Plano, and Mrs. Nona McGirr, near Maquon; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Lucille Conger, Maquon, and Mrs. Bernice (Bernita) Luttrell, Galesburg; two grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Mr. McGirr was a retired farmer.
Funeral was at Patterson Funeral Home in Elmwood, with burial in Maquon Cemetery.
