ANDOVER - The death of George R. Learned, lifelong resident of Andover, occurred on November 16 [1959] at Elsie's Nursing Home, Mexico, where he had been a patient for three months.
He was born in Andover June 12, 1871, he was the son of George E. and Esther Elliott Learned. He married the late Lillian Pilgrim.
He was a retired lumberman.
Mr. Learned was a charter member and past chancellor of Cabot Lodge No. 117, Knights of Pythias, Andover.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Marion Mansfield, Tampa, Fla., a son, Philip, of Andover, seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 pm Thursday, November 19, at the Andover Congregational Church.
Rev. John R. Johnston of the Mexico Congregational Church officiated. Services were also conducted by Cabot Lodge, Knights of Pythias, Andover.
Burial was in Woodlawn cemetery, Andover.
Committal services at the cemetery were conducted by Rev. Johnston.
Pall Bearers were Timothy Learned, Chester Learned, Peter Learned and Victor Akers.
