BETTENDORF -- Mary L. Deere, Bettendorf, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport, following an extended illness. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at McGinnis, Chambers & Sass Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Deere was a secretary at Mark Twain Elementary School, Bettendorf, for 25 years, retiring in 1985. Mary White was born Dec. 7, 1924, in Lancaster, Mo. She married Robert L. Deere in 1943 in Davenport. Memorials may be made to the Bettendorf Christian Church. Survivors include her husband, Robert; her sons, Dennis, Bettendorf, and Jon, Excelsior Springs, Mo.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her sisters, Betty Anderson, Davenport, and Ruth Sprague, Buffalo, Iowa; and her brother, John White, Bettendorf.
