Elizabeth Gilbert Eyestone
Elizabeth Gilbert Eyestone, 90, of Albuquerque, N. M. and formerly of the rural Fairfield area, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Evergreen Cemetery, with the Rev. John Benedict officiating. After the service, the Antioch Church women's group will host a luncheon for family and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to Antioch Church.
Mrs. Eyestone was born Oct. 27, 1912, in Fairfield, the daughter of Samuel T. and Daisy Gibson Gilbert. She married Glenn E. Eyestone in 1938. He died in 1989 (sic. Glenn died on July 28, 1990).
Mrs. Eyestone was a teacher in the Fairfield, Libertyville and Winfield areas before marrying. After residing on the family farm, she and her husband moved to New Mexico in 1959, where she returned to teaching. She taught kindergarten for 18 years at BIA schools, retiring in 1977.
She was a lifetime member of Antioch Church and an associate member of Central United Methodist Church in New Mexico.
Survivors include one son, David L. Eyestone and wife Diana of San Antonio, Texas; one daughter, Carolyn A. Rennie and husband G. of Albuquerque; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one foster daughter, Wanda Woods Seger and husband Arlen of Madison, S.D.; and several foster grandchildren and foster great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister Harriet Virginia.
