Paul Floyd Coomler, 89, former Kokomo resident

MONTICELLO - Paul Floyd Coomler, 89, of Bradenton, Fla., a former Kokomo resident who maintained a summer home in Monticello for 49 years, died at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, at the SunBridge Health Care Facility in Bradenton.

He was born in Lagro on June 4, 1913, to Floyd and Faye Howell Coomler. He married Willie Johnston in Estill, S.C., on June 20, 1942. She died March 17, 1984.

He was a 1931 graduate of Lagro High School. He attended Manchester College on a basketball scholarship.

He served in the United States Army 4th Infantry Division, surviving the Normandy Beach Invasion.

He was service manager at the downtown Firestone Store in Kokomo.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

He was a member of Masonic Lodge F&AM 93, the Shrine, he was a past Monarch of the IBN-SAUD Grotto, American Legion Post 6 and the Moose Lodge.

Survivors include daughters, Ange (David) Fletcher of Monticello, Kym Wyant of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Joann Lee of Leesburg, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A sister, Helen Brodbeck, is deceased.

Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Saturday at Fenn & Shirley Mortuary, Colonial Chapel, Kokomo. Services will follow at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel, with Pastor James Schaffer officiating.

Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum, with military honors provided by VFW Post 1152 and VFW Post 8035.
