On this thirteenth day of March, A.D., one thousand eight hundred and seventy one, personally appeared before me, W.C. Portman Clerk of the County Court, a Court Record within and for the county and State aforesaid, John Estes, aged Eighty years, a resident of County of Casey State of Kentucky, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is married; that his wife's name was Nancy Berry, to whom he was married at Lincoln County, Ky, on the 31st day of December, 1815; that he served the full period of sixty days in the military service of the United States in the war of 1812; that he is the identical John Estes who enlisted in Captain Micah Talls company, Col Barbee's regiment at Lincoln Co Ky Hustonville on July or August 1812, and was honorably discharged at Peytons Well Lincoln Co Ky, 1813; that he enlisted in Capt Talls Comp, Col Barbees Regt Ky Militia at the town of Hustonville Lincoln County, Ky then a small village, thence through Danville to Georgetown Ky. I mustered into service then at St Marys Fort Barbee where he wintered, then returned through Cincinnati, home & was discharged. That afterwards he entered the military service as substitute for David May in Capt Wades Company, Col Slaughters Regt & was engaged in the Battle of New Orleans Jan 8, 1815 with Genl Jackson. His post office is at Middleburg County of Casey State of Kentucky; that his domicile or place of abode is Mr Tinsleys on road from Hustonville to Middleburg.

The undersigned Judge of the Lincoln County Court this 16th day of February at the Law office of Ballenger & Varnon in the town of Stanford Ky proceed to make settlement with John Estes Ex'r of the last will & testament of Abraham Estes....I find that there is $5027. 33 in the hands of the Ex'r for distribution amongst the heirs of the Testator. One third of which belongs to the Ex'r as one of the three children of the Testator. $1675.77
