Neil J. Botz, 50, an Albany High School music instructor, died Sept. 23 at his home. Born Feb. 10, 1924, he was graduated from Melrose High School and St. John's University. As a soldier during World War II he was captured by the Germans and held prisoner until the end of the war. He married Evelyn Schwegman in 1948 and soon after became an instructor at Albany, teaching history and science and directing the band and choral groups. He was a member of the U.S. Army Reserve, American Legion at Albany, Knights of Columbus, St. Joseph Society and the Post in Melrose. Veterans of Foreign Wars. I Survivors include his widow; one daughter, Nancy Ann, a student at the College of St. Benedict; parents Mr. and Mrs. Oswald Botz and a sister, Mrs. John Goihl, Melrose. He was precede in death by a brother, Virgil. Funeral services will be at II a.m. Thursday at the Seven Dolors Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Melrose.
