A lifelong resident of the Washita community, he attended Washita School through the 10th grade, then graduated from Anadarko High School with the Class of 1954.

He joined the United States Marine Corps from 1955 until 1959, and was stationed at Camp Pendleton and in Hawaii.

Following his military discharge, he enrolled at Oklahoma State University and received his certification as a Heating and Air Conditioning Engineer.

He retired from that career after 12 years and continued his farming and cattle operation.

He was a member of the Anadarko St. Patrick Catholic Church, the National Rifle Association, The Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association, and the Apache Co-op.

On July 29, 1965 he married the former Patricia Ann Cook and had made their home in the Washita area.

He was very artistic and worked with leather and metal, making jewelry and light fixtures.

In 1995 he built their home from the ground up.

He was an Old West history buff, and enjoyed watching western movies and reading books about the West.

He also loved traveling, riding horses and going elk hunting, but most of all he loved going to the grandchildren's sporting events.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Calvin Boydstun and sister-in-law Myrtle Boydstun, and an infant sister, Dorothy Louise Boydstun.

Survivors included his wife Pat; two daughers, Theresa Melero and husband Frank, and Kathy Evans and husband Damon;

one son Olen E. Boydstun, Jr. and seven grandchildren;

one sister, Thelma Lee Stacy and husband Don, and one brother John Boydstun and wife Alice Lynne; several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

The Rosary service was held on May 5th at the Steverson Funeral Home.

A Funeral Mass was held on May 6th at the St. Patrick Catholic Church with the Rev. K. Chinnapa Reddy, officiating.
