Mrs. Jessie A. Baker of Manhattan, who came to the Gallatin Valley with her homesteading parents in 1871, died Monday at the Masonic Home in Helena, where she had been living since 1942. She was 86.
Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Hanford L. King Jr. at Gethsemane Chapel, Manhattan, Wednesday, at 3 p.m.
Mrs. Baker was born in Poynette, Wisc., June 21, 1870, to Wolcott and Carrie Davis and came with them to Montana in 1871, when they homesteaded near Manhattan.
She was married in 1895 to Herbert E. Baker in Manhattan, and they had one son, Harold, who died in 1951. Baker died in 1930.
Survivors include a brother, Jay Curtis, Manhattan; a sister, Mrs. Lillian Halbert, Harlowtown, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services at Meadowview Cemetery, Manhattan, will be conducted by the Manhattan chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, of which she was a charter member.
