Linwood James Tawes
CRISFIELD — Linwood James "Lennie" Tawes, 82, of Crisfield died Thursday, May 19, 2011, at McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield.
Born in Crisfield April 8, 1929, he was a son of the late Vernon and Cecil Clark Tawes.
He was a master carpenter, working with Tawes Brothers Construction for many years and later with Tom Ruark Construction.
A U.S. Navy veteran, he was a member of Evangelical Wesleyan Church in Crisfield. He was a family man who loved spending time with his grandchildren. He loved his work, children, animals and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Flora J. Pruitt Tawes of Crisfield; four children, Debbie Peregrine and husband, Charles, of Westover, Eddie Tawes and wife, Jain, of Goldsboro, Md., Linda Brown and husband, Sam, of Parksley and Velma McIntyre and husband, Jerry, of Salisbury; a brother, Vernon Tawes and wife, Irmgard, of Princess Anne; three sisters, Betty Sterling and Doris McDorman and husband, Jerry, all of Crisfield, and Mary Frances Elliott of Salisbury; seven grandchildren, Sherri East and husband, Jack, Jill Brown, Jaime and Jerry McIntyre, Jessica Granroth, Dietrich Schleif and Joshua Grover; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sister, Randall "Buddy," Lawrence and Benson "Tucker" Tawes and Idella Tyler.
A funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Terry Riggin will officiate. Interment will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park. In his memory, the family requests that donations may be made to Evangelical Wesleyan Church, c/o the Rev. Terry Riggin, 1121B S.
