Thursday, March 6th, 1862. To day the steamer Ruthven arrived from Galveston bringing but little freight. Business very dull. The boys at work on the house fence. Lieut. W.G. Williams arrived home from the army in Virginia on a recruiting tour. he also brought the sad intelligence of the death of John Wrigley. weather clear and cold with a frost and freeze at night. Liberty, Texas

Friday, March 7th, 1862. To day Charley Lund left on the cars to attend to the bringing of the remains of John Wrigley home for burial. I am very busy in the store selling goods. The boys are in the swamp getting posts for the fence. weather clear & rather cold. Liberty, Texas

Saturday, March 8th, 1862. To day Capt. James Wrigley arrived on the freight train from Houston to attend the funeral of his deceased brother. I am busy in the store. The boys are engaged digging the grave for the remains of John Wrigley. weather changeable & rather cool. Liberty, Texas

Sunday, March 9th, 1862. To day Charley Lund arrived on the cars having the remains of John Wrigley in charge. In the evening he was interred by the Masonic fraternity with a large concourse of citizens in attendance although the place of burial was some 6 miles off. myself & family attended. weather cloudy with drizzling rain and at night a very hard rain. Liberty, Texas
