Born May 27, 1932, in Saint John, New Brunswick, she was raised in the loving home of the late Gordon Peppard and Myrtle "Myrt" (Cox) Webster.
Mamie attended Saint James United Church, Great Village, where she was a past member of the UCW and was also a proud life member of Cavell Rebekah Lodge No. 72, Great Village.
Many will remember Mamie as the friendly waitress and bartender at The Palliser, Glengarry Best Western and Keddy's.
A loving and loyal woman, Mamie embraced each one of her friends, children and grandchildren and strengthened that bond with the time she spent caring for her grandchildren and also spending much quality time at the cottage in Five Houses with all her family.
Grammie made the best "love sandwiches" - those sandwiches made with the crusts cut off and a pickle and piece of cheese held on with a toothpick.
Teaching them her values of being graceful, honest and determined, she was proud of each one of them and all their achievements. If, by chance, you faltered, Mamie would quickly remind you that "You were brought up better than that!"
She loved animals and had a soft spot in her heart for her babies, Lily and Chico.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Rowe, Dr. Henderson, Hospice nurses Lisa Wilson and Ann McKim and the nurses and staff of 4 South and 4 East, Colchester Regional Hospital for their loving and compassionate care.
Mamie is survived by her children, Steven Gatti (Cyndy Ellis), Great Village; Margo (Keith) Woods, Halifax; Susan "Sue" (Stephen) Karrel, Great Village; Jamie (Cynthia) Gatti, Fall River; grandchildren, Shelby Gatti, Annette Woods, Mamie-Jane Karrel, David Karrel (Sarah Coleman), Sarah (David) Gatti-Yorke, Lisa Gatti; great granddaughter, Kenzie Mae Yorke.
Mamie was predeceased by her husband, James Harry Gatti.
