She was born on May 1, 1954, in Charlottesville, Virginia, the daughter of Franklin R. Sprouse and the late Lena Morris Sprouse.
Janice and her twin sister, Janet Sprouse Mallory, owned and operated Sprouse's Logging LLC in North Carolina for years. In the 1980's, Janice started and operated a trucking company in Virginia, TJ Enterprise Inc.
Janice and Denny owned and operated a produce farm, Lonesome Spruce Farm, in Edinburg. She sold her produce at the VFW on weekends for 5 years.
Janice leaves behind her loving mate, Denny Ratliff; her dad, Franklin Sprouse; a brother, Wendall Sprouse; and two half-sisters, Joyce Lawson and Denice Sprouse.
She was briefly married to Eugene Ray Sandridge in 1971 in Charlottesville, VA.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 23, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Holly Memorial Gardens in Charlottesville with Rev. Michael Jordan officiating.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 3:00-5:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Valley Funeral Chapel, Bowmans Crossing.
