Funeral rites for Mrs. John L. Ash, of Centreville, were held Monday at the Centreville Methodist Church. .. Interment was made in Oaklawn Cemetery...
Mrs. Ash died at her home last Saturday, August 26, following a stroke which occurred only five hours earlier. She had been in decling health for a number of years.
Born in Amite County in 1872, Mrs. Ash was a lifelong resident of the Centreville area. She was the daughter of the late Henry Vine and Lucy Ann King Vine and was the last survivor of their family of five.
She was married in 1891 to John Lowry Ash and they founded their home in Centreville where in 1941 they observed their fiftieth wedding anniversary only ten weeks before Mr. Ash's death...
Of the twelve children born to Mr. and Mrs. Ash eight survive them. They are Mrs. A. C. Oursler, Oklahoma City, A. K. Ash, Memphis, Mrs. John S. Warren, Hendrix College, Arkansas, John L. Ash, Jr., Mrs. J. B. Anderson, Harry C. Ash and Mrs. David S. Nickel, all of Centreville, and Norman B. Ash, Oklahoma City. There are twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
