Cawthon. -- Rockdale, Texas, Dec. 27. -- Following an illness of more than a year, Mrs. Pearl Rowland Cawthon, 47 years old, died at her home in this place early Christmas morning. Her death came as a great shock to Rockdale, as Mrs. Cawthon had been reared here from childhood. She was one of the city's most useful women. She was a charter member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, who gathered in a body to do honor to their departed member. Mrs. Cawthon is survived by her mother, Mrs. S.A. Rowland. The Rev. N.H. Melbert, pastor of First Methodist Church and her pastor, conducted funeral services.
