He was a native of Bulloch County and was a member of the Scarboro Grove Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Pulaski Masonic Lodge 319.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Julta Hendrix and Miss Mildred Cone, both of Detroit, Mich., Miss Fay Cone of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Misses Dorothy and Kerr Cone, both of Statesboro; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Cynthia Burrough of Portal; seven sons, Donald Cone of Detroit, Grady Cone of Lakeland, Fla., Alfred Cone of the U.S. Army, Fort Bragg, N.C., Robbie, William and Jeffery Cone, all of Statesboro, and Tony Cone of Pompano Beach, Fla.; a stepson, Freddie Williams of Statesboro; his stepmother, Mrs. Carrie Cone of New York City; three brothers, James Cone of Philadelphia, Pa., Amos Cone of Savannah, and William Cone of Ft. Lauderdale; two stepbrothers, Willie James Morgan of Los Angeles, Calif., and Henry Morgan of Ellabell; two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Ashley of Fort Lauderdale and Mrs. Sarah Lee of Portal; and a stepsister, Mrs. Mary Lou Johnson of New York City.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Scarboro Grove Baptist Church in Portal, with burial in the church cemetery.
