Survivors include wife, Ellen Vaughn, Birmingham; four daughters, Mrs. Clara Bell Williford, Raymond, Al., Mrs. Adell Williams, McCalla, Mrs. Edith Hulley, N.J. and Mrs. Nonnie Horton, Woodstock; four sons, Vernon Vaughn, Coal City, IL., Tom Vaughn, Hueytown and Fred Vaughn, Birmingham, Mack Vaughn, McCalla; 25 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren.

He was a miner with Republic Steel, a veteran of U.S. Army, WWI, and a member of VFW Post 1762 and AmVets Post 127.
