Helen B. Adams, 93, of Ennoble Manor, formerly of 2705 Pinard St., died at 1:55 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011, at Ennoble Manor, of natural causes.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 2921 Central Ave. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. To celebrate Helen's life, friends may call after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
She was born on Sept. 8, 1917, in Dyersville, Iowa, daughter of Tony and Mary Ann (Digman) Henry. She married Sylvester M. Adams on Nov. 27, 1941, in Dubuque; he preceded her in death.
She was employed at the former Dubuque Packing Co., at Hillcrest Family Services for 10 years and lastly owned and operated H&B Cleaning with her son, Bill, until her retirement. After she retired, she helped to raise several children.
She was a member of Holy Ghost Church, and worked with the DAV and VFW for a number of years.
Helen enjoyed caring for and giving her time to others, her door was open to anyone. She also enjoyed going dancing, playing cards, cooking and gardening.
Surviving are two sons, William H. (Pam) Adams, of Sumter, S.C., and James J. Adams, of Iowa City; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a very special cousin, Rosemary Baker, of Dubuque.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Helen Madigan; four sisters; and five brothers.
