Obituary - Sister M. Annette Bocke, OP, 96, a Dominican Sister of Springfield, died Saturday, May 14. She was born to Bernard and Emma Hacker Bocke in Quincy. She joined the Springfield Dominicans in 1934. Sister M. Annette is fondly remembered by many of her former high school students from Sacred Heart Academy/Sacred Heart-Griffin High School, Springfield; Marian Catholic High School, Chicago Heights; St. Paul, Odell; St. John, Carrollton; Routt Catholic High School, Jacksonville; and St. Augustine, Richmond, Mich. She taught English, French, Latin, Spanish, journalism, history and/or theology.
Sister M. Annette was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Joseph, Anthony, and Al; and three sisters, Marie Beger, Gertrude Morris and Hildegard (Gil) Ristenpart. She is survived by her sister, Sister Elise Bocke, OP, of Springfield; and nieces and nephews. The funeral Mass was held May 17 at Sacred Heart Convent in Springfield, with Father Peter Witchousky, OP, presiding. Final commendation was May 18 at Sacred Heart Convent with burial at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dominican Sisters Retirement Fund, 1237 W. Monroe, Springfield, IL 62704. Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, Springfield, was in charge of arrangments.
