Adelle . . . I thank God upon every remembrance of you! You will be missed all the days of my life!

ADELLE MARIE COSTA was born in Detroit, Michigan August 5,1959 to Rose Marie Costa (Oliva) and Francesco (Frank) Costa M.D., who were wonderful parents. Adelle was their only daughter.

Adelle graduated from Gabriel Richard High School in 1977, Monroe Community College in 1979 and attended Nazareth College in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

I met Adelle at the Community Education Counseling Center (C.E.C.C.) in Dearborn, Michigan - a crisis intervention center. Adelle was a counselor and instructor. I was introduced to C.E.C.C. and Adelle by my nephew and friend, Jim Qualls. I went there to volunteer as a crisis intervention person on a telephone hotline - to prevent people from committing suicide. Adelle interviewed me and became my instructor. Adelle saved many souls from suicide! She made a difference in so many lives!

The first thing I thought when I met Adelle was - "this woman's husband is such a lucky guy"! She was so beautiful, kind and genuinely sweet! Her voice was gentle as an angel - almost childlike! I've met many people in my life - Adelle was special and had a very sincere, kind and caring way about her - like an earthly angel! Little did I know - she was single, never married. I asked her on a date - we were never apart after our first date - we married a year later. You know what? Her husband was a very lucky guy - lucky indeed! Blessed by God Himself!

Adelle married the love of her life Matthew Jenkins at Greenfield Village, Dearborn, Michigan on Sunday, May 20th, 1984 - they had one sweet son, Matthew Franklin Jenkins born in July of 1989. Adelle and Matthew were married for over 25 years. With great love - comes great loss! It was the worst day of my life when Adelle died! I feel a deep, never ending, lasting loss without my girl - until we meet again, sweetheart!

To the world - she was just one person - but to one person - she was the world!

Adelle was a wonderful person - an absolute angel on earth. She never had a mean word to say about anyone. Adelle was a friend to everyone she met. She was the bravest person I've ever known - she fought amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) with unwavering faith, courage and strength - Adelle was totally paralyzed, unable to speak or move whatsoever and confined to a bed in Hospice for many years. She suffered in terrible pain more than anyone I've ever seen in my life! She never complained even though she had so many reasons. Adelle and our family suffered for nearly 9 years with this horrible disease. She smiled everyday - her sickness never diminished her beautiful spirit!

Adelle was an amazingly strong woman. Of all the earthly gifts I could have given our only son, Matty - the Greatest gift of all was his Mother, Adelle! Nothing could ever compare to her! She loved sitting on the porch swing in the rain singing with her little boy. Adelle enjoyed being a Sunday school teacher with little children and teaching them about Jesus. She was the most loving, caring and patient person I've ever known. Adelle believed that the most important things in life cannot be touched or even seen at all - they must be felt from the heart! Adelle gave the world far more than she ever took from it! It is well with her soul! Adelle trusted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She's in heaven with the Lord today . . .

Our world became a lesser place when Adelle went to heaven. Adelle was truly a wonderful human being, and so very special!

Adelle was an exceptional wife, mother, daughter, sister and best friend!

Adelle, my sweet wife, I can't wait to see your beautiful face again, sweetheart! My soul will never be truly happy or content until I'm with you again. What a day of rejoicing that will be for me!

Adelle was the kindest person that God ever placed on earth, and I feel incredibly honored to have been her husband.

Adelle, I think of you and miss you everyday of my life. I thank God upon every remembrance of you! Every remembrance, sweetheart!

I miss you! I love you!
