David Lawrence "Dave" Africa, 55, a resident of Crownsville for 33 years, died of cancer Nov. 16 at home after an eight-month illness. Mr. Africa was born Dec. 19, 1951, in Annapolis, where he graduated from Annapolis High School. He was the owner and master technician at the Arnold Service Center in Severna Park. His interests included gardening and spending time with his family. Surviving are his wife, Jane Carol Africa, whom he married Nov. 22, 1974; two daughters, Faythe Anne Ward of Windsor Mills, Va., and Rachel Rae Sanchez of Parkville, Md.; one sister, Janet Reno of Odenton; his mother, E. Janice Africa of Crofton; and eight grandchildren. He was the father of the late James Gay.
