Sheila was the daughter of Carey Warren Allender and Augusta Pearl (Harman) Allender. She was a beautiful baby, with chestnut hair, blue eyes and long lashes. When she was in distress, she was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon, WV. They transferred her to Myers Clinic in Philippi, WV. She was transferred once more to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland, OH. Sheila had been born with a heart defect and the doctors were unable to save her. She passed away at the hospital on Sunday, March 1, at the age of four months and fifteen days. She was returned to West Virginia and was buried on March 5, 1953.
