Hangs Himself in The Barn
Karel Kadoch Commits Suicide Wednesday While Temporarily Insane
Karel Kadoch, an aged and pioneer resident of North Germany township, committed suicide Wednesday morning by hanging himself. The tragedy was discovered by his son, Otto C., with whom the old gentleman made his home, when he went out to the barn to do some chores. There he saw his father hanging from the end of a rope which was fastened to a rafter. Mr. Kadoch saw at a glance that his father was dead, and he immediately notified Dr. O.V. Johnson, county coroner, who drove out to investigate the death. He cut the body down and found life had been extinct for several hours, and as it was a clear case of suicide no inquest was necessary.
The suicide of this well known and respected gentleman is a shock to this community and a great blow to his family. Mr. Kadoch was suffering from a hard attack of la grippe, which it is presumed, unbalanced his mind for the time, and that he committed the rash act while temporarily insane. Deceased immigrated to this country from Germany over forty years around has lived in this county about twelve years, coming with his sons who located in North Germany. He was about seventy years of age.
Deceased is survived by three sons and two daughters. The sons are Otto C., of North Germany; Charles J., of Medicine Hat, Canada, and John, of Portland, Oregon, and who are prominently known here. The Review joins with this community in extending the deepest sympathy to the daughters and sons in their great sorrow which so suddenly befell them.
