Don Vernon Barnes was born to Joe Studebaker and Alta (Eggleston) Barnes.

He graduated from Berlin High School and was married to Colene Campbell on December 14, 1937 at Sayre, Oklahoma. They lived in the Herring Community, Strong City, Ft. Worth, Texas and moved to Moore, OKklahomain 1986 and have lived in the Oklahoma City area since.

He was a commissary manager at air force bases as a vocation. He served his country in the US Army.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 2004; by his parents and two sisters.

Survivors include 2 children: Donna Prough, Gary Barnes and his wife Wanda, 5 grandchildren, Scott Knight, Jeffrey Knight, Brandi Rauch, Amanda Barnes, Jennifer Barnes and 6 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Martin Funeral Chapel of Elk City with Elder Mike Minson officiating. Interment will be in the Berlin Cemetery under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home.
