His tombstone says he died Dec 2, 1816, aged 71 years. This burial place suggests that his wife was closely associated with John and Abraham Armstrong, probably a sister.

John Moore was born on July 19, 1741 (There is actually a lot of conflicting information on the year of his birth. Some supports 1741 and some support 1745) in or near Dublin, Ireland. He was enrolled for the priesthood, but at some point during his training as a priest he changed his mind and decided to become a doctor. In 1770 he emigrated to the U.S. on the ship "Carolina" via the Port of Philadelphia. John was a private in the Revolutionary War (1775-1783) and stated he was a doctor.
John married Hannah Armstrong, the daughter of an immigrant, Adam Abraham Armstrong, who came from County Donegal in the northern province of Ulster in Ireland, and Margaret Nixon (1716-1741) Hannah was born in 1743 Conochacheague River, Cumberland, Pennsylvania. (It should be noted that Hannah Armstrong is an ancestor of the first man to walk on the moon, Neil Armstrong)
John and Hannah had three sons, John Moore, Jr., Armstrong and Anthony and 5 daughters, whose names are not shown in the settlement of his estate.
John Moore is in the Green Township tax list for 1784, showing his residence at that date as TEN MILE, p643.

On February 25, 1788, a tract of land called "Station" was warranted to John and then on February 19, 1793, warranted the adjoining 400 acres under the title of "Moorefields," both situated on the South Branch of Big Whiteley. On January 29, 1810, John Moore, and wife Hannah, sold a part of "Moorefields" to James Bradford. (DB. 2. pp. 443).
Hannah died on December 2, 1814, at the age of 71, and John died on December 1, 1816, at the age of 75 (there is a difference of opinion between sources as to if John was 71 or 75 at his death, which means sources differs as to if he were born on 1741 or 1745) . A series of deeds from his heirs, disposed of much of the land granted to him by the Commonwealth. He and Hannah are buried in the Armstrong Cemetery, 3 miles east of Carmichaels, PA.

Peter is still a farmer, but now the family is listed as owning the house they live in. Peter, Lizzie, and Laura moved to Ohio by the time of the 1930 Census and were living in Scipio, Meigs County, Ohio.
Peter died on December 28, 1942 in Butler County, Ohio at the age of 67. Lizzie died on September 30, 1965 at the age of 87. Their oldest child, Dessie Marie was born on April 19, 1898 in West Virginia. By the age of 22, Dessie was working in the Davidson household in Parkersburg Ward 2, Wood, West Virginia as a servant, according to the 1920 Census. By 1930, Dessie was living in Dayton, Montgomery, Ohio with her husband, Burt Pleasant (see PLEASANT family history), their two children Janis and James, as well as Burt's mother, Catherine, and presumably two boarders, Fred J. Appleman (age 35) and Mary Loy (age 66). From these records, it would be assumable that Dessie and Burt were married sometime between 1920 and 1924, as Janis was born in 1925. Burt died on May 6, 1941 in Dayton, Ohio at the age of 58. Dessie died on March 2, 1982 in Dayton, Ohio at the age of 83.

On October 14, 1975, the following gravestones were readable 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 (departed 1811).
11. Added: Joseph Scott, son of William departed this life Sept. 2, 1814, in the 2nd Year of his age.
The graveyard is located 3/4 mile north of on the "Stringtown" Road. The graves are on the east side up to the top of a hill on the present Kerr farm property at the corner of the field. Gravestones 5 & 6 (double marker) are only one standing and is in good condition. This all changed after the Kerr family bought the property, as of Dec 2001, when I was personally there, all makers were standing, thanks to Mrs. Kerr and her sons, who also keep the area mowed.

On October 14, 1975, the following gravestones were readable 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 (departed 1811).
11. Added: Joseph Scott, son of William departed this life Sept. 2, 1814, in the 2nd Year of his age.
The graveyard is located 3/4 mile north of on the "Stringtown" Road. The graves are on the east side up to the top of a hill on the present Kerr farm property at the corner of the field. Gravestones 5 & 6 (double marker) are only one standing and is in good condition. This all changed after the Kerr family bought the property, as of Dec 2001, when I was personally there, all makers were standing, thanks to Mrs. Kerr and her sons, who also keep the area mowed.

His wife was Hannah Armstrong. There seems to be little doubt this is the Dr. John Moore who is buried in the Armstrong Cemetery.
His tombstone says he died Dec 2, 1816, aged 71 years. This burial place suggests that his wife was closely associated with John and Abraham Armstrong, probably a sister.

John Moore was born on July 19, 1741 (There is actually a lot of conflicting information on the year of his birth. Some supports 1741 and some support 1745) in or near Dublin, Ireland. He was enrolled for the priesthood, but at some point during his training as a priest he changed his mind and decided to become a doctor. In 1770 he emigrated to the U.S. on the ship "Carolina" via the Port of Philadelphia. John was a private in the Revolutionary War (1775-1783) and stated he was a doctor.
John married Hannah Armstrong, the daughter of an immigrant, Adam Abraham Armstrong, who came from County Donegal in the northern province of Ulster in Ireland, and Margaret Nixon (1716-1741) Hannah was born in 1743 Conochacheague River, Cumberland, Pennsylvania. (It should be noted that Hannah Armstrong is an ancestor of the first man to walk on the moon, Neil Armstrong)
John and Hannah had three sons, John Moore, Jr., Armstrong and Anthony and 5 daughters, whose names are not shown in the settlement of his estate.
John Moore is in the Green Township tax list for 1784, showing his residence at that date as TEN MILE, p643.
John Moore was probably the schoolmaster, listed in the Muddy Creek Ledger, and described as being from Big Whiteley Creek.
On February 25, 1788, a tract of land called "Station" was warranted to John and then on February 19, 1793, warranted the adjoining 400 acres under the title of "Moorefields," both situated on the South Branch of Big Whiteley. On January 29, 1810, John Moore, and wife Hannah, sold a part of "Moorefields" to James Bradford. (DB. 2. pp. 443).
Hannah died on December 2, 1814, at the age of 71, and John died on December 1, 1816, at the age of 75 (there is a difference of opinion between sources as to if John was 71 or 75 at his death, which means sources differs as to if he were born on 1741 or 1745) . A series of deeds from his heirs, disposed of much of the land granted to him by the Commonwealth. He and Hannah are buried in the Armstrong Cemetery, 3 miles east of Carmichaels, PA.
Anthony, John and Hannah's youngest son, was born in 1782 in Greene, Greene County, Pennsylvania. He married Elizabeth Steele, who was born in 1786, also in Pennsylvania (see STEELE family history).
According to the 1810 Census, Anthony was living in Whiteley, Green County, Pennsylvania. They had six children: Catherine, Elizabeth, Hannah, Margaret, Armstrong and Hughy Crawford. Anthony died in 1832 at the age of 50. Hughy Crawford was born on June 22, 1808 in Greene, Pennsylvania. In 1830, at the age of 22, he married Tabitha Eaton in West Virginia. Tabitha, who was born on August 29, 1816 in Pennsylvania, was the daughter of Henry and Lena Eaton. Nothing is known at this time about the Eaton family.
Hughy and Tabitha had at least 7 children Isaac, William, Rebecca, Matilda, Gilla, Ruan, and Mary. According to the 1860 Census, the family was living in Wetzel, West Virginia.
Tabitha died on August 21, 1860 in Wetzel County, West Virginia at the age of 44. Hughy remarried in 1857, marrying Rhoda Morris. Hughy died on June 29, 1874 at the age of 66 in Wetzel, West Virginia. Isaac was born on June 1, 1831 in Monongalia, Virginia. He married Eliza Jane Dulaney, who was born on May 24, 1834 in Fayette, Pennsylvania. Eliza's parents were Thomas Dulaney (1790-1856) and Mary Morris (1792-1852)(see the DULANEY and MORRIS family histories).
Isaac and Eliza had at least 6 sons, but we only have initials for most of them: J.A.W., D.D., C.J., S.C., Christopher, and Peter Yeager.
According to the 1880 Census, the family was living in Center, Wetzel, West Virginia. Isaac's profession was listed as farmer. Eliza died on February 3, 1885 at the age of 50 and Isaac died on August 27, 1887 at the age of 56. They both died in Wetzel County, West Virginia. Their youngest son, Peter Yeager, was born on March 22, 1875 in Wetzel, West Virginia. He married Elizabeth "Lizzie" Rosella Austa Carney, who had been born on June 27, 1878 in Wetzel, West Virginia. She was the daughter of John Linzie Carney and Orphelia Orpha Johnson (see CARNEY and JOHNSON family histories).
According to the 1900 Census, Peter and Lizzie had been married for 3 years, so they probably go married around 1897. At this time they were living in Center, Wetzel, West Virginia, and Peter's occupation was listed as farm labor. Also, they were renting a house and both could read and write. Peter and Lizzie had four children: Dessie Marie, Fred, Orpha, and Linzy.
The 1910 Census has the family living in Ravenswood, Jackson, West Virginia. Again, Peter is listed as a farmer.
In 1920, the Census lists the family as living in Clay, Wood, West Virginia. At this point, Peter and Lizzie are listed as having two more children, Opal and Laura. Peter is still a farmer, but now the family is listed as owning the house they live in. Peter, Lizzie, and Laura moved to Ohio by the time of the 1930 Census and were living in Scipio, Meigs County, Ohio.
Peter died on December 28, 1942 in Butler County, Ohio at the age of 67. Lizzie died on September 30, 1965 at the age of 87. Their oldest child, Dessie Marie was born on April 19, 1898 in West Virginia. By the age of 22, Dessie was working in the Davidson household in Parkersburg Ward 2, Wood, West Virginia as a servant, according to the 1920 Census. By 1930, Dessie was living in Dayton, Montgomery, Ohio with her husband, Burt Pleasant (see PLEASANT family history), their two children Janis and James, as well as Burt's mother, Catherine, and presumably two boarders, Fred J. Appleman (age 35) and Mary Loy (age 66). From these records, it would be assumable that Dessie and Burt were married sometime between 1920 and 1924, as Janis was born in 1925. Burt died on May 6, 1941 in Dayton, Ohio at the age of 58. Dessie died on March 2, 1982 in Dayton, Ohio at the age of 83.

The old Armstrong graveyard still has a number of legible markers (1950) including the following:

6. Elizabeth Armstrong his wife died December 15, 1864; aged 88 Years.
(She was Elizabeth Russell who had married John Moore, who died about 1800).
