He made his movie debut appearance in Orson Welles' "The Lady from Shanghai" (1947, starring Rita Hayworth) followed by "The Naked City" (1948), "The Life of Riley" (1949), "It Happens Every Spring" (1949), "Crazy Over Horses' (1951, a Bowery Boys comedy), "A Place in the Sun (1951), "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" (1954), "Crime Wave" (1954), "The Big Combo" (1955), "The Killing" (1956), "Slightly Scarlet (1956), "Baby Face Nelson" (1957), "The Joker is Wild" (1957), "The Quick Gun" (1964), "Nevada Smith" (1966) and "The Outside Man" (1971). He also appeared in numerous television shows from the late 1950s through 1970, mostly Westerns, including "The Californians," "Jefferson Drum," "Richard Diamond, Private Detective," "Zorro," "Frontier Doctor," "Riverboat," "Tate," "The Twilight Zone," "Lawman," "Stoney Burke," "Rawhide," "Gunsmoke," "The Dakotas," and "I Dream of Jeannie." He was a regular on television shows "Sea Hunt," "Perry Mason," "Get Smart," "Daniel Boone," "Steve Canyon," He died of a heart attack in Encino, California at the age of 69.
