She was born Dec. 28, 1913, in Summitville, the daughter of Claude and Minnie Dean. She moved from Marion to Anderson in 1929. She married Edgar Carpenter in April 1934 and he passed away in 1968. She worked at Delco Remy for 40 years, retiring in 1973 from Plant 10.
Garnet was a member of Bethany Christian Church, Keen-Agers of the church, Order of Eastern Star 154, Killbuck Retirees and Travel Club, Bethany Care Team and United Auto Workers Local 662.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Shirley Dean; nieces, Tammy (husband, Gerry) Rolph, Cheryl Dean, Linda (husband, Michael) Grubbs and Phyllis (husband, Gene) Ulrich; nephew, Stephen Dean; great-nieces, Brook Spicer, Nichole Ulrich and Tiffany Henson; cousins, Paul Shultz and Elsie Vannatta; close friends, Maxine Jones and family, Janet McCullough, Cindy and Paul Dick, Dallas and Luane Canfield; and neighbors, Bill and Thelma Sutton, Jane Fero and Carl Huffman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar; brothers, Loren Dean, Ervin Dean and Darrell Dean; and sister, Harriett Anne Tucker.
