Irene Margaret Dubay, 64, of Faber, Virginia, died on Sunday, October 30, 2011, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

She was born on April 29, 1947, in Canada, to the late Ned and Theresa Lagasse. Irene had a passion for life and her family. She loved animals, knitting, crocheting and playing bingo. Her strong heart and sprit made her a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be deeply missed by so many. She is survived by her children, Alton Dubay Jr. and his wife, Norma, of Palmyra and Theresa Dubay and her fiance, Tim Mawyer, of Faber; and her granddaughter, Shyan Dubay. Additional survivors include her siblings, Charleen Norton, Linda Griffin and her husband, Bruce; brother-in-law, John Britton; nephews, Joey Britton, Rodney Britton and Jeff Griffin; nieces, Carol Corbin, Tammy Norton, Lisa Searcy and Tina Safely; and numerous other family and friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Joseph Dubay Sr.; her sister, Cecile Britton; and her niece, Cara Lee Searcy.

A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, November 3, 2011, at Holly Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends after the service at Linda and Bruce Griffin's home, 280 Westwood Road Stanardsville, VA 22973. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family, c/o Ryan Funeral Home, P.O. Box 274, Ruckersville, VA 22968. Ryan Funeral Home of Ruckersville is handling the arrangements.
