BARNARD, VT - In the early morning of July 30, 2014, Marion Elizabeth Balch, age 72 was taken from her earthly body and joined our father in heaven. She joined many loved ones in Heaven and currently deep in conversation with angels looking down on her family and friends.

She was born May 21, 1942 the daughter of Maurice and Irene Edmunds Thompson. Marion attended schools in Barnard and Woodstock, VT and was a graduate from Sheldon Beauty Academy in Burlington, VT. She spent fifty-three years as a hairdresser in Bethel, VT, Windsor, VT and Lebanon, NH. She continued to work up to the day before her passing. She will be missed by those she touched daily in her life and from M'Lord and Ladies, Bob's Barbershop, and Harvest Hill Assisted Living. Her spare time was spent gardening in her many flower beds around her home, quilting, cooking and baking, or encouraging her children and grandchildren from the bleachers at many she attended sporting events in Windsor, Woodstock and Hartland.

She was a member of the Windsor Elks, and an active member of the Bellows Falls Elks Emblem Club, and a member of the American Legion Post #26 in White River Jct., VT. At the Veterans of Foreign War Post #2571 in White River Jct., VT she was a life member; held the positions as president and past president of the Women's Auxiliary Trustee and was holding the position of Senior Vice President at the time of her death.

Marion is survived by her husband, Phillip Sargent; her step-father, Raymond Sargent; step-mother Eloise Thompson; sister Catherine Space (Michael) of Wauconda, IL; brother, Delbert Thompson; sister, Elaine Gaudette; sister, Darlene Ballou; sister, Marie Hart; brother, Maurice (Tommy) Thompson Jr.; brother, Jerry Thompson; her five children: Diane L. (Danny) Masterson of Barnard; Donald L. (Isobel) Balch of Bryant, AR; Delmar L. (Valerie) of Barnard; Donna L. (Scott) Bowers of Hartland; Dale L. (Carla) Balch of Hartland; step-sons Scott (Julie) Sargent; and Eric Sargent, and her grandchildren: Jamie Elizabeth (Ryan) Jarvis, Dakota (Cody) J. Campbell, James I. Balch, Megan Elizabeth Balch, Hunter T. Balch, Madison Elizabeth Bowers, Bradley I. Bowers, Jackson R. Balch, Jackson Sargent and numerous nieces and nephews. She has joined her father, Maurice Thompson; mother, Irene Sargent and a grandson, Maxwell L. Balch spiritually in heaven.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 8, 2014 at 10:00 AM at North Road Methodist Cemetery in Barnard, Vermont. A celebration of her life will be hosted at the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 2571 in White River Junction after the graveside service. Memorial contributions may be to, Breast Cancer Awareness, Office of Development, c/o Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, 1 Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, NH 03766.
