She married Norbert E. Ross on Sept. 4, 1946, in Hays. He preceded her in death in 1981.
She was a 1938 graduate of Girls Catholic High. She worked at The Hays Daily News until her marriage, was a homemaker and later employed at Fort Hays State University until retirement in 1985. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Altar Society and Christian Mothers and the Eucharistic Adorers.
Survivors include three sons, Daniel Ross and wife, Mary Ann, Highlands Ranch, Colo.; Ronald Ross and wife, Alice, Parkville, Mo. and Kenneth Ross and wife, Karen, Fort Wayne, Ind.; two daughters, Mary Jo Chambers and husband, Donald, Hays, and Judith Gilbert and husband, Paul, Overland Park; a brother, Alan Ross and wife, Wilma, Hays; a sister, Dorothy Dreiling and husband, Marvin, Hays; a brother-in-law, Clarence Thummel, Los Angeles; four sisters-in- laws, Lillian Dreiling and Tina Ross, both of Hays, Irene Hauser, Louisville, Colo., and Mildred Ross, Wichita; six grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; and four step-great- great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1981; a brother, Anthony F. (Frank) Dreiling; and two sisters, Mary Ann Thummel and Mildred Bollig.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, both at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays. A combined rosary with the Altar Society, Christian Mothers and Eucharistic Adorers will be at 4:30 p.m. Friday at the chapel. A wake will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church in care of the chapel.
