US Congressman. He attended St. James Academy, St. Francis College, in Brooklyn, was in the retail butcher business and became engaged in building construction in 1902. He was the deputy collector of Internal Revenue for the first district of New York, (1914- 19) and served as deputy city clerk of Brooklyn Borough, (1919-23). In 1923, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-eighth Congress and to the next three succeeding Congresses, serving until his death at age 61.
