U.S. Congressman. He engaged in mercantile pursuits, trustee of the village of Lansingburgh for many years and commissioner of jurors for Rensselaer County, (1896-1900). In 1901, he was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-seventh Congress and to the next five succeeding Congresses, serving until 1913. Not a candidate for reelection, he was involved in the manufacture business and was president of W.H. Draper & Sons Incorporated until his death at age 80.
